A winter message from our Chairman

Welcome to our winter newsletter for 2020/21. In this unusual – and for many people tragic – year, WTRRP has been trying to help our clients in rather different ways from usual. Our drop-in has needed to become ‘virtual,’ with someone on the end of the phone at the usual times, to help with any problems and to refer people for short legal advice sessions. Our befriending activities have necessarily also been on the end of a phone most of the time, with (careful) help in person to do a few urgent house moves and the like.

Our biggest activity has been providing food for so many, and this has changed too: where clients used to collect from the drop-in, we are now delivering. This has been a major piece of planning and management, and additional volunteers have joined us to help deliver. And we are continually grateful to the Watford Foodbank and the Trussell Trust, who let us take out a lot more food than is donated to WTRRP!

So, roll on 2021, with the hope that more face-to-face contact will become possible, that we’ll be able to resume our social activities which were so helpful in helping stressed folk in so many ways, and generally get back to normal!
