Another WTRRP garden party in perfect weather!

This year’s annual garden party at Cheslyn Gardens was memorable in so many ways. The weather was perfect for a day out and we made the most of it! Once again we had the support of those connected with the Justice and Peace Group, Tring, as well as welcoming new helpers from the Quaker Group. We are hugely grateful for the support and friendship of these groups (as well as the vast array of cakes and savouries they provided!).

We asked one of our new volunteers, Anette Corbach, to give her impressions of volunteering at her first WTRRP garden party:

“It wasn’t long before I was roped into helping out in the kitchen, mainly spreading jam and cream on a vast number of scones!  I noticed others were similarly employed plating up homemade cakes, sandwiches, pastries and numerous other delicacies on platters – it was clear no-one was going to go hungry!

So time now to mingle with clients, volunteers and supporters. Most were in shade, except the children, who in spite of the heat, were making the most of the beautiful surroundings – running around and exploring the gardens and woods. All were in admiration of the enormous goldfish and variety of birds in the aviary. The adults appreciated the chance to talk and several commented how pleased they were to see their children making new friends. On this perfect summer’s day in beautiful surroundings a good time was had by all.”
